New Church Officers

This page is here to let you get to know our newest crop of leaders at LBC. Read the bios below to get to know the men and women who have been elected to serve as elders, deacons, and deaconesses:

Ed Holtz (Elder)

I have been on staff with CRU for 37 years, served overseas for 25 years and I am currently serving with Priority Associates reaching the market place of Orlando. I have a passion to reach people who are not yet believers, my motivation is that the love of Christ compels me.

Candice and I have been married for 36 years, we have three grown children: Jennifer married with 3 grandchildren, Betsy single living in Washington DC and Jeff single living in Seattle. All are walking with the Lord at this time.

I enjoy reading and playing golf and the ministry.

Richard Hostetter (Elder)

Richard is married to Susanne Hostetter, and together they have three grown children and four grandchildren. Richard works with a real estate development firm here in Orlando. He was first ordained as an elder in the PCA at Lookout Mountain Presbyterian (Chattanooga, TN) in 1975. He has even served as the moderator of the PCA's General Assembly, which is our annual national meeting (quite an honor!). In his free time he enjoys reading, landscaping, golf, hunting, fishing, skiing.

Michael Ballenger (Deacon)

I was raised in Charlotte, NC, and grew up in Forrest Hill Church.  I accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior early in life (3rd grade).  I majored in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina State, where I met my wife, Amy.  Go Wolfpack!  After college, I began working as an environmental consultant for Trinity Consultants in Maryland, and after 5 years trasferred to Orlando to open a new office in Baldwin Park.  We found LBC shortly after moving to the neighborhood in 2007.  We had our first daughter, Ansleigh, last year - she is now 15 months old and so much fun!  Amy and I love taking Ansleigh to the beach - she loves the sand and waves.  I love all outdoor activities, as well as working on cars (although I can't say I am always qualified!).  I am eager to serve the church!

Scott Crocker (Deacon)

Scott M. Crocker is a 1995 graduate of Central Michigan University, where he received a degree in Social Science with a focus on American History.  He served briefly as a youth pastor at Colonial Woods Missionary Church in Port Huron, Michigan before joining the staff of Campus Crusade for Christ.

After joining the staff of Campus Crusade, he led ministries on several campuses in Northeast Ohio, where he helped to pioneer Impact chapters at Kent State University, and on campuses in Akron and Cleveland. The Impact Movement takes the truth of Jesus Christ to the campus, community and world by producing leaders of African descent who are spiritually focused, financially responsible and morally fit.

Through his work with college students, Scott has helped to lead short-term missions teams to Virginia Beach, Virginia and Johannesburg, South Africa.  In addition, he has ministered extensively to students throughout the United States and provides training to church leaders and missionaries on the topics of racial reconciliation and cross-cultural ministry.

Currently, Scott is the Chief of Staff for Ethnic Field Ministry, a ministry of Campus Crusade committed to seeing spiritual movements launched among students and faculty of color throughout the world.  He is also a contributing author to Finding Key Leaders and Building Impact Movements, a handbook for campus ministers seeking to reach African American students for Christ.  Scott and his wife, Lori, have four children - Brennan, Leah, Jason and Aaron - and are members of Lake Baldwin Church in Orlando, Florida.

In his free time, Scott is a diehard fan of the Michigan Wolverines football team and has coached youth basketball and football since high school.  An avid reader, he particularly enjoys biographies and books about culture and American history.

He has been married to Chandler since March 2005, has a beautiful daughter Addison and a son Reid due in October. They have been residents in Baldwin Park since 2005. Adam is a Director at Liberty Investment Properties which is a Commercial Real Estate Development and Operations company that specializes in Self Storage, Extended Stay Hotels and Income Producing Properties. In his free time he loves being with his growing family, flying, Alabama Football and playing golf.

Drew Halberg (Deacon)

I was born in Orlando in November of 1982 to Carl and Patti Hallberg.  I have Godly parents that have raised me to follow Christ since the day I was born.  I have an older brother, Jonathan, and older sister, Janey.  I went to Lake Brantley high school and spent most of my time on the lake wakeboarding.  I got to compete on the national level and got a lot of great opportunities because of the wakeboarding community.  I went to UCF, where I met my wife Carey (The best thing that happened to me in college).  We were both very involved with the organization formerly know as Campus Crusade for Christ.  We had the great opportunity to be discipled and to disciple people in our 4 years at UCF.  I graduated in 2005 with a business degree and married Carey in July of that year.

I currently am an independent dealer owner within the America's Office Source network (I sell office supplies).  I love to be outdoors, whether that is hunting, shooting, or cruising around with Carey in our Jeep.  I still wakeboard, but not as good as I used to...it hurts a lot more these days.  Carey and I have a yellow lab, Mack.  If you know me at all, you know that me and that dog are buddies.

We love where God has placed us and look forward to continuing to be a part of the community at LBC.  We appreciate the way God has used this church family to show us how He wants Gospel centered community to look like.

Ravi Jain (Deacon)

Ravi Jain, though born in Detroit, grew up with his mother in Tampa, Florida.  He graduated from Davidson College in North Carolina in 1997 having dabbled in science, ancient Greek, and international political economy.  During his early twenties he worked at various Presbyterian churches and completed an M.A. from Reformed Theological Seminary as he considered pursuing vocational overseas missionary work.  He began teaching Calculus and Physics at the Geneva School in 2003 and since that time has focused on understanding the role of math and science in a Christian Classical curriculum.  In 2009 he was invited to join the Alcuin fellowship as one of their inaugural fellows to discuss and forward these issues with like-minded educators throughout the country.  Since then he has had the opportunity to deliver more than two dozen talks on education to a variety of audiences across the country.  He met his wife Kelley in 2001 in Chiba, Japan while she was a missionary with the PCA and he was on a short trip supporting a Global Church Advancement church planting conference.  They married in 2004 and have two handsome young boys under two years old, Judah and Xavier (pronounced Zay-vee-yer).  The Jain’s have been active congregants at Lake Baldwin Church since they moved to Baldwin Park in 2006.  They have led a Bible study for the young adults, co-led a neighborhood Bible study, participated in the communitas community group and have been active on the missions team for three years.   The little family has since moved back to the dowtown Delaney Park area and is happily settled, although still open in heart to the call of God to vocational missions.
